Another new project for 2014 – this latest commission is from Warwick University’s International Institute for Product and Service Innovation or IIPSI for short.  The project is to take the existing building’s BIM (Building Information Model) used in design & build and re-purpose it as a Seeable App which will visualise a live feed of environmental data from the building via sensors connected to the internet.

Internet connected devices – this is what some call the ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) – taking value from the real time metrics and data feeds that internet connected devices can export.  Is it new ?  Well, if you have a connected  SatNav reporting on live traffic speed and diversions, then you may not realise, but this is IoT in action.  So with environmental data feeds, perhaps we can better utilise the data we collect !  They say you can manage what you can measure, but it is also true that if the data is burried in complex systems or paperwork, then you may not be able to visualise easily what / where / when.  We can locate the results in 3D space, visualise what is happening in the building through the live data feeds.

This is one more way that Seeable Apps are using serious games technology to visualise complex data in an easy to consume way …
