GeoBusiness has now come and gone – bring on the 2015 show ! Both Seeable and it’s Sister company Severn Partnership were exhibiting and had a great response from attendees of the Conference. Why ? We do things differently…. to show what we are able to create, our 3D & BIM team recreated to business design centre in Islington as a Revit model. This was then placed in a Seeable App to showcase how BIM data can be re-purposed for visualisation, training, marketing etc.
To prove that actually, we control how you ‘virtually’ interact with the space, we ignored the usual augmentations we make for ‘serious games’ and added giant killer spiders (non serious games) to create the ‘Geobusiness Arachnophobia’ game for light relief from Geomatics and a chance to win a bottle of Whisky !
This was then played by James Kavanagh of the RICS who realised the potential of using this kind of app for engaging with the next generation of surveyors and engineers; showing how we can collect survey data, model it and then use it for a range of purposes.
This was a bit of fun – the serious part being explaining to visitors from the Oil, Rail, AEC sectors how they could utilise our reality capture, modelling and App creation skills to add value to their projects in terms of novel marketing, enhanced safety or better communication of design / construction intent. As a break from this, Nick blenkarn (Partner at Seeable & Director at Severn Partnership) gave an hours seminar on Scan to BIM specifications and how BIM can be then re-purposed as seeable Apps.
Add in the Gala Dinner at the Pullman hotel by St Pancras and day two as a repeat of day one, it was back to home base in Shropshire for a well earned rest !
